After being stabbed on Wednesday night at a restaurant in the West Loop, a man has passed away. Authorities said that at approximately 5 p.m., in the 1200 block of W. Randolph Street, a 41-year-old man repeatedly stabbed a 47-year-old man in the back and chest with a knife. After being sent to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, the victim was subsequently declared deceased. According to the police, the perpetrator was apprehended. A man died after being stabbed many times during a fight Wednesday evening at City Winery on Restaurant Row in the West Loop. It was meant to be a great evening of music and entertainment at City Winery. Instead, the location was encircled by police cars throughout the evening while detectives probed the fatal violence.
It was unclear whether the incident happened inside or outside the facility. However, as a result, the events there were canceled.
“It’s really sad, you know, that people go through something like that,” said concertgoer Mack Miller. “You know, I have no idea who it was about or who was stabbed. But all I know is that it’s completely worthless. “It’s really sad.”
According to sources, two events were set for Wednesday night at City Winery: a nonprofit benefit and a concert by local artist Danny Boy, also known as Danny Boy Steward, who was rehearsing inside the venue when the stabbing occurred. He claimed the victim wished him a good show moments before being stabbed to death.
According to police, the alleged criminal was arrested. Belmont Area detectives were investigating the stabbing. Authorities have contacted City Winery on the incident and the canceled show on Wednesday night. There had been no answer as of shortly before 10 p.m.
